She has received grant support to prepare dozens of students to work in public libraries. She received the ALISE\/ Connie Van Fleet Award for Research Excellence in Public Library Services to Adults in 2022. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cb\u003eDenice Adkins \u003c\/b\u003eis professor and associate director of the School of Information Science \u0026amp; Learning Technologies, University of Missouri, and former coeditor of the \u003ci\u003eJournal of Education for Library and Information Science\u003c\/i\u003e. She earned her MLS and PhD from the University of Arizona. Prior to her academic career, Adkins was a public librarian serving diverse communities in the southwestern United States.
