A prolific writer, Bendis was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in a Jewish-American family. Bendis always aspired to make comic books, reportedly declaring at age five that he would be the artist for \u003ci\u003eSpider-Man\u003c\/i\u003e. Later, he attended classes at the Cleveland Institute of Art for five years. While trying to break into the world of comics, he did illustrations for local Cleveland newspapers and magazines. In the mid-1990s, Bendis found work publishing independent comics, including \u003ci\u003eSpunky Todd\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003eFire\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003eA.K.A. Wood initially worked in both the UK and international comic book industries, working on characters such as the British character \u003ci\u003eJudge Dredd, \u003c\/i\u003e before breaking into the US market, where he worked for such companies as Marvel Comics and DC Comics. Wood has also worked for Image Comics, creating graphic novels and cover art for the various SPAWN properties of Todd McFarlane and more. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003eWood generally works in mixed media, often combining oil painting with digital artmaking. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003eBen Templesmith is a New York Times best selling artist and writer most widely known for his work in the comic book industry where he has received multiple nominations for the International Horror Guild Awards as well as the industry's top prize, the Eisner Award.
