He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature \"for his cartography of structures of power and his trenchant images of the individual's resistance, revolt, and defeat.\" He also won the Miguel de Cervantes Prize, the Spanish-speaking world's most distinguished literary honor. His many works of fiction and nonfiction include \u003ci\u003eThe Feast of the Goat, In Praise of the Stepmother, \u003c\/i\u003eand \u003ci\u003eAunt Julia and the Scriptwriter, \u003c\/i\u003e all published by FSG. He died in Lima at age 89 in 2025. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cb\u003eRubén Gallo\u003c\/b\u003e is the author of several books, including \u003ci\u003eProust's Latin Americans\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003eFreud's Mexico: Into the Wilds of Psychoanalysis\u003c\/i\u003e, and the novel\u003ci\u003e Muerte en La Habana\u003c\/i\u003e. He is the Walter S. Carpenter, Jr., Professor in Language, Literature, and Civilization of Spain at Princeton University and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cb\u003eAnna Kushner\u003c\/b\u003e has translated the novels of Norberto Fuentes, Guillermo Rosales, and Gonçalo M. Tavares.
